Questions
How do I apply?
We meet candidates through on-campus interviews, resume collects and write-in applications during the recruiting season. You can also apply directly for a 2L summer associate position here.
How will I receive work assignments? Is there a rotation among practice groups?
There is no formal rotation during the summer program. Summer associates can take assignments from any of our practice groups either through our database or organically from attorneys.

How will I be evaluated/reviewed?
In addition today-to-day appraisals of your work, summer associates receive two formal reviews that provide valuable feedback on all of the work assignments completed throughout the summer. Both your partner mentor and the partner liaison from your top ranked practice group will participate in the review process.
Will I be able to work on pro bono matters?
Each summer associate is expected to work on at least one pro bono assignment during their 10 weeks at the Firm. Learn more about our pro bono opportunities here.
What types of trainings are offered during the summer program?
Summer associates are offered a variety of in-house trainings and consultant-led workshops aimed at enhancing communication, technology, negotiation and networking skills. You will also have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with a writing coach. You will get to know our practice groups by participating in substantive trainings and hands-on assignments, including conference calls, court visits, and client meetings. Trainings will continue throughout your career at Cadwalader.
